Three-piece ball valves

Technical characteristics

Simple construction and operation, a small installation space compared to the other fittings, fast opening and closing by rotating the handle in 90°, a circular cross section with a full or narrow passage, a very small hydraulic resistance because there is no turning flow line of the fluid, baukasten principle of building - easy maintenance and reduced cost of stocking spare parts, various material combination offer the possibility of wide area of application.

Construction and materials

Ball valves are composed of two subassembly:

• The middle part (case of the ball valve) in which are embedded the following parts: ball, sealing ring (seat), the outer sealing ring, spindle with labyrinth seal and handle.
• Two ports which are connected with the spacer bolts. To maintain valve, or to modify valve sealing rings it is enough to relieve spacer screws and pull the cover up.

Ball valves are by default made of Cr Ni Mo steel, W.Nr.1.4581 (W.Nr.1.4571), and carbon steel W.Nr.1.0619 (W.Nr.1.1151).

The area of application:

Chemisrty, petrochemistry, energetics, pharmacy, food industry.

Operating pressures

Maximum operating pressure for a small nominal openings is 40bar and is decreased with increasing size of nominal opening of ball valve. Maximum operating pressure is given in the tables for mounting measures!

Operating temperature

Application of PTFE as a gasket material limits the area of work of ball valve up to max. +200ºC. Valve selection is done depending on the maximum permissible value from the pT-diagram!

Mounting and connection measures

Ball valves with flanges are made with mounting length according to EN 558. Connection measures according to EN 1092-1.

Control

Each valve is tested after assembly for sealing according to EN 12266-1.

Remark

1. For all three-piece valves we offer solutions with superstructure instead of manual operation:
   
   • with pneumatic servo motor (one-way and two-way action)
   • with pneumatic rotating cylinder (one-way and two-way action)
2. We also have solutions for three-piece ball valves with flanges with shell for heating or cooling the working fluid
